There will be further discussions over the coming weeks regarding the controversial cycle lanes on Old Shoreham road.At the Environment transport and Sustainability Council meeting, 21 July it was highlighted yet again that the Green council had not properly consulted residents about the cycle lanes.
Even after residents had put their thoughts clearly on the council survey ( that they did not support the cycle lanes & they are overwhelmingly unpopular) the council still failed to admit in the meeting that they should be removed.
Councillor Robert Nemeth said in yesterday’s meeting of the council’s Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee:
“I hope that this whole unnecessary episode is remembered as a way not to operate – and that the principles of consultation, consent and democracy are enshrined in future decision-making processes.”
